Solved.
One of those gotcha moments. I had the Bencher Keyer plugged into the front jack for the keyer. And... I had the computer plugged into the rear jack for the keyer. The plug in the back is really old... like about 20 years. The plastic cover had failed some time ago and broke off. No worries, everything worked fine until when running some cables something pressed against the tip and ring and shorted them. Unplugged, fixed it and everything is fine again. That's why it was a gotcha moment. Something unexpected gotcha.

My ICOM IC-9100 has been working fine for a long time, even this past weekend. A strange issue popped up today. While on RS-44, I went to find myself as I usually do. I pressed the SUB button, Pressed CW and the radio immediately started transmitting. No dits and dashes as from the keyer, just a solid tone. I unplugged the keyer from the radio and tried again, same thing.
I did the soft reset, VFO/MEMO and F-INP/ENT buttons while turning on. I then reloaded my memories from the RT Systems programmer.
Repeated the CW on a local simplex freqency and same thing.
Any ideas? Of course I can whistle or say 1..1...1..1 to find myself which is really not recommended.
