I haven't sent any by email, and I'm up over 300. I think they might literally mean 'includes', not 'comprises exclusively'.
I see that Mark's packets have made it on the map.

All,
well maybe the automatic packet logging is not working after all (at least for many people).
I've just received another email from the team in hungary, and they told me that the 'packets received'
number on the google map includes all the packets sent to them VIA EMAIL reports.
Sure enough, I haven't sent my latest log file to them yet, and my packets received counter didn't change in the last 24 hours.
So who knows - a bit frustrating not to know if the packet is actually logged on their server or not.
I guess if you want to make sure that your contribution actually makes it to Hungary, send the log file via email (instructions are on their website).

Indeed, Bruce--this software implementation for the telemetry is awesome!
We'll get these issues sort out. The good news of course is that the packets are being logged locally, so they can submitted manually via email (which I haven't done yet...)
I removed the current Win7 firewall exceptions for JAVA---no warning/permissions window popped up! Uninstalled/reinstalled Java--still no warning/permissions window popped up; and no exceptions were added to the firewall during re-install. Manually added java.exe and javaw.exe to the firewall exceptions (shows both TCP and UDP), and will test out later as the bird comes into view...

I wonder if I am incorrect in generalizing my experience. On the website map, it seems too many people have '0' packets reported. And my latest pass (some good data at 4 deg. max el.!) isn't reported yet.
When I first ran the application, windows firewall popped up and asked for me to permit java to access the internet. In my case, it was the first time I'd used this java install on this machine, so that is probably the difference.
Despite this discussion, I think we'd all agree that this is a great package and it makes working with this new satellite very interesting.

Well, I still don't have it forwarding packets, according to their webpage.
What is the delay from time of packets submitted to posted on the web? Seconds/minutes/hours?
Looking harder here, but it sure looks like Windows firewall is set to allow JAVA to do it's thing...
Bruce, how did you tell Win7 firewall to use JAVA? Did it pop up a security window for you to enable traffice? I don't remember seeing that, but this isn't the first JAVA thing I've done...Win7 firewall settings show java.exe and javaw.exe enabled for both TCP and UDP traffic.
Bleh.

I sent packets yesterday with this email address, and then registered in the evening. This morning I see that it has retrospectively counted those packets to my new account! The only authorization I had to do with the software was to tell my Win7 firewall that java could connect to the internet on my behalf.
So the system seems quite robust (not to mention pleasing to the eye).

Okay, I had a brain failure here (least I think so...)
I used my gmail address to register my station on the webpage, but used my amsat address when the program started. I registered online weeks ago, so when the registration page came up, I didn't even consider that it was supposed to "match" to the website registration page.
Will know tomorrow, but that has to be my problem.
Makes sense...another "duh" moment :)
