Thought about this, I have 1.2Ghz on my radio and a small beam, and instead, I'm just putting it up for terrestrial stuff on 1.2Ghz for now. Going 432/144 only on the az/el rotor for now just to reduce complexity. SF Bay area, last I played with this, had repeaters on 1.2, many dead, though sometimes people were quite surprised when I called in on them. I did actually manage to talk to people on this band. Got pretty good range too.
