You missed that the  Downlink is FM.  THen you will have normal PSK31 audio to feed the waterfall display..  DUring a pass you will have to shift your FM receiver 4 times from +10 KHz, then +5 kHz and then on 435.350 mHz, then -5 kHz then -10 kHz.

You can transmit 100% during the pass since the transponder is full duplex. and you can then not only see yourself but everyone else in the passband.
This means running one instances of PSK31 using SSB uplink on the HF radio and another instance of PSK31 decoding software on the other UHF radio.

But your downlink audio will shift throughout the pass making others have to chase you.  It is better to download K0SM's DopplerPSK program on the uplink which will automatically shift your transmit uplink so that you stay still in the aurio downlink..

Imagine, 20 people in simultaneous parallel qso throughout the pass!

This also works for PSAT2 which has more power. on the downlink (both sats are on 435.350 mHz but different uplinks.  28.1215 mHz for PSAT and 29.4815 for PSAT2).

I can hear occasional PSK-31 in short bursts but have not been able to decode it yet.

I want to make sure I understand what settings to use.

Downlink USB & use FLDigi etc. for decode PSK-31

Receive downlink is USB?

What part of the spectrum Is the downlink typically in (Hz)?

Uplink is on 10 Meters USB also or LSB?

Assuming FLDigi will work PSK-31 fine for Uplink also?

What do I send on uplink, just station ID?

Thanks & look forward to having another bird to play with.
