What operating system are you using? With XP, I have never run into a flash drive that required a driver. They just worked.
However, with Win98SE, I had to download a driver from Sandisk before my Cruzer drive would work. Their site specifically states that no driver is required for Windows ME, 2000, or XP, as well as Mac OS 9.1 or 10.1.2+
The other possibility is that you may need to download a driver from Dell for the port itself...

Hi everyone, There must be an easy way to load Keps from a file on a 3 1/2" floppy, but what is it? (No internet on this laptop, but a floppy drive.)
I have 1 USB port that I hope to use for rig control, Where can I find a proper driver for a USB flash drive that the laptop won't recognize? I think this laptop (Dell Inspiron 3800) was made before these flash drives became fashionable.
