That is normal. The voice period is bracketed with telemetry bursts. It is all done by timer.

The last couple of passes that I have tried seemed to start well - I hear stations using the repeater - but then some sort of digital signal takes over and no other voice activity is heard. Is this some command work being done by the ground controllers?
