Hi John,

Science mode is enabled when we send image data.  You can see that in FoxTelem because you will receive data on the MESAT Science tab.  If that data is valid image packets then an image is built on the Multispectral Camera Tab.  Each image captured is actually 4 images or channels and will become 4 separate images in FoxTelem.  Each taken with a different filter.

A copy of the images is also saved as a bitmap in the FoxTelem data directory in an images sub folder.

There is a slightly updated version of FoxTelem on my website, in the development downloads, which indicates how many bytes you have received for each block in the image.  Download version 1.12z5 (not version 1.13 which does not have this feature yet):

With that said, nothing in space is easy and so far we have only retrieved some test data that was loaded before launch, from Image 1 Channel 0.  But we are optimistic that image data is coming.

Our current test is over and the spacecraft is back in SAFE mode where it will rest for about 3 days.  We hope to start some science operations again after that.

If you are curious about the data, then you can always download the full set collected by everyone from the server.  The FoxTelem manual explains how to setup a second copy of FoxTelem with a different data folder.  You can then pull the server data down into that copy with File > Fetch Server Data.  There you will see the partially downloaded test data.  If you are good at sleuthing through data you can see the magnetorquers activate when we sent commands to stabilize the spacecraft for image capture.

Enjoy,

Hi All,

We are in the midst of a testing session with the University of Maine's
first satellite, MESAT1.  We have just (8/10/24 0108utc) sent a stored
test image to ground stations.  MESAT1 remains in HEALTH mode, so
telemetry is on all the time for maybe the next 12-24 hours.

We can especially use telemetry frames to be collected tomorrow during
the 1146utc and 1316utc morning passes. We are attempting to take and
download its first photo.  All telemetry from all around the globe is
welcome and very helpful.

We will likely decrease the telemetry power for an orbit, but increase
again to download the image.  Grab what you can in FoxTelem, and upload
to the server all of your frames!

Thanks for your help!  It's been great thus far.
