I actually did do something very similar to this. I built a 2m yagi, hooked it to my HT and listened in on a contact. Later I hooked it to my SDR dongle and laptop and recorded data for later decoding, which was successful.
However, I got a direct reply from someone else that mentioned there are no store-and-forward satellites. (I'm not sure how I thought there were. Maybe that was old info or maybe I just imagined it.) The s-a-f part is more important to me than the satellite part, so I may hop over to HF instead...
