Motrolo makes a 900, 2400 and 5600 mc Ethernet link. The 900 mc will go 1-3+ miles at 1 mega bit. 900 has the longest range when you have Trees. The ohter modes will not work with trees. for aprox $1000 you can setup a very "reliable" 1+ mile 900 mc ethernet link.
or, you can use a pair of 2.4 wifi's, amps and big antennas, no trees. Non hams have a 4 watt erp wifi limit. Hams have a 390 watt erp wifi limit on channel 1 in the usa.
A $200 solution needs the words "un-reliable"

SO true. As the leaves are falling, my wireless internet access is now up to 5 bars from the usual 2 bars or less in the summer. When all the leaves are off, I'll be up to 8 bars and have 11 Mbyte rates again...
