Hi TJ! Welcome back!
I've been helping with openGD77. What a great program. I wrote the satellite FAQ for it. First, use a really inexpensive digital recorder like one of these (mine was less than $20): https://www.amazon.com/s?k=digital+recorder Second, here's a website I helped get going that lists the scheduled FM satellites and shows if they are on or off: https://www.df2et.de/tevel/ Third, here's my beginning satellite presentation that I give at the Philmont Scout Ranch and to local ham clubs: https://tinyurl.com/N9KT-Philmont-Satellites
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me. I'll look for you on the birds! -David, N9KT

Good morning folks, been trying to get on the birds again after a bit of a break (got a new radio that makes it a lot easier - RT3S with opengd77). Hearing a ton of stations but can’t remember the calls as they come in so it’s difficult to call individual stations, and can’t write it down since I’m hand holding an antenna. Any tips for me to be more effective? I am recording the pass so I don’t need to worry about logging but just knowing who to call is tough. I’m sure I’ll memorize calls as I listen more and hear the same ones (w4ksy comes to mind :D).
