I really love my Advanced Receiver Research 160W mast mounted preamps for
2M and 70cm.
Agreed about mast mount preamps in general, and the ARRs do a good job. However, be certain to double check the sealant around the screws which hold the top on. If you don't, and you have driving rain, they can/will leak and fill up the catch basin inside. Happened to me. Personally, I prefer the SSB units which are a bit pricier, but have a better design WRT waterproofing, and the adjustable gain is a convenient feature. My relatively new ARR is now properly sealed, has drain holes, and functions as a backup and loaner.
