Greetings all...it's been a long time since I have been active on the satellites. While I was married, I had a good station and could work nearly any satellite I could hear. After being limited to the FM birds, I had very limited success with SO-50, etc. But the Fox satellites have been simply awesome. I am having the time of my life working 91&92 with my UV5RA and 19" whip antenna. But only during the day. Do these satellites have a lower power at night/during eclipse??

I have been doing this for years. The key/trick is that you have to insert a 40db pad on the rig audio side because the audio levels (mic vs rig) are very different. Most audio recorders use a AGC of some sort, and with no balancing L to R, the AGC will adjust for the stronger rig audio, and lower its overall sensitivity so you won't hear the mic channel. Inserting the 40db pad balances the left and right and will give you good audio on both sides.

We have made an application to the Thai regulator, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) to set up ground stations in different regions of Thailand in four locations, from North to South and with the following callsigns:
GS station in the North of Thailand, using the callsign HS0AN
GS station in the South using the callsign HS0AS
GS Station in the Northeast of Thailand using the callsign HS0AO
GS station in the Central region of Thailand with the callsign HS0AL
We intend to post videos from all of these stations on YouTube, similar to those from HS0AJ, and we will establish ground stations all over the country in order to receive signals from satellites and to enable amateur radio operators and others in Thailand who are interested to access videos from these stations on YouTube.
However, now we are seeking urgent help from AMSAT members worldwide because we are unable to contact the company Innovative Solutions In Space (ISIS) with which RAST had signed a contract to buy components for a U-class CubeSat but excluding the payload, being the Linear Transponder. Since the beginning of this year up until now we have been unable to contact ISIS, which is the reason for this appeal to you for urgent help in the purchase of components for the Flight Model of the 1U CubeSat satellite which is capable of carrying a payload of a Linear Transponder for RAST and which has been assembled and has passed the testing phase.
Can anyone please provide some recommendations to us regarding the assembly of the satellite ? and as quickly as possible? RAST and its members are lacking experience in satellite assembly and for the initial testing phase and we are appealing for suggestions as to where we can find suppliers of CubeSat components and as to who can test them and send the satellite out into space?

I have observed that if you are using an Arduino or another processor
with single precision math, the computed results age very quickly for any LEO and practically I must update every few days.
if you are using a more respectable math engine and are only concerned
about the orbital elements; the error in the satellite position is approximately a kilometer at the epoch of the TLE. Then the simplified perturbation model (SPG4) used by the common software we use loses about 1-2km a day.
all of this is a bit pedantic if you are hand pointing an antenna in the
noble tradition ...

I think you want a "DJ splitter" cable. Typically a stereo (TRS) plug and two separate MONO output jacks, one for the left and one for the right channel. DJ's use one to monitor a track they are playing on one channel while cueing up a 2nd track in their headphones; the DJ software is configured to output to one track or the other. Use when you have a laptop or tablet with one audio output and don't want to or can't use a mixer or 2nd (USB?) audio device. Usually well-made because DJs hate equipment failures mid-gig. (and we hams hate equipment failures in mid-pass!) I have a Griffin DJ Cable and will have to test this myself. Native Instruments (Traktor) and other DJ equipment vendors sell these. $10-$12 give or take.
The use in this thread is to combine 2 signals into one input jack, while keeping them on separate tracks. Play the recording back in software like Audacity as suggested by others.
I agree the easiest approach is wire a cheap electret mic for local (Uplink) audio. If you tap audio from your uplink radio mic input, you may need to pad down the audio level to the recorder and take steps to isolate the recording line from the radio input.
The other "splitter" cable described connects left and right channels in parallel and is intended . Usually called a headphone audio splitter. You may get a mess unless you wire the plugs from your downlink and local audio to put signals on just one channel. More trouble than it is worth IMO. YMMV.

The two Chinese microsats LongJiang 1 & 2 are to be launched towards the Moon from Xichang on 2018-05-20 around 21:00 UTC. They carry radio amateur payloads with 2 m uplinks and 70 cm downlinks. Amateurs will be able to receive telemetry downlinks but will also be allowed to send telecommands for taking and downlinking pictures. There are also plans to enable FreeDV digital voice communications through these spacecraft.
The two LongJiang satellites are planned to perform formation flying in a high elliptical orbit around the Moon (300 x 9000 km). After launch it will take about 4 and a half days to reach the Moon. DSLWP is a lunar formation flying mission led by Harbin Institute of Technology for low frequency radio astronomy, amateur radio and education. It consists of a pair of 47 kg microsatellites, to be launched into a lunar transfer orbit UTC this Sunday evening, and finally enter a 300 x 9000km lunar elliptical orbit. Onboard each satellite, there are two VHF/UHF SDR transceivers to provide beacon, telemetry, telecommand, digital image downlink and a GMSK-JT4 repeater. Onboard transmitting power is about 2 W.
The first launch window will open at about 21:30 May 20th UTC. The transmitters will be activated soon after separation. Satellite A will transmit 500 baud GMSK with 1/4 turbo code on 435.425 MHz and 250 baud GMSK with 1/2 turbo code and precoder on 436.425 MHz, and satellite B will transmit 500 baud GMSK with 1/4 turbo code on 435.400 MHz and 250 baud GMSK with 1/2 turbo code and precoder on 436.400 MHz, in every 5 minutes by default. Each transmittion will last about 16 seconds. Radio amateurs in South America will have the earliest chance to receive the signals from the satellites, then North America, Oceania, Asia, Europe and Africa.
Harbin Institute of Technology Amateur Radio Club expects radio amateurs to join in this mission. We will prepare different QSL cards for different flight phase for amateurs successfully made QSO or received telemetry. Awards will also be given to the first 10 amateurs in each continent who successfully decoded the signals from the satellites, received the most number of packets, or received an image. Your participation will also help the team to get a better knowledge of the status of the satellites.
An open source decoding software based on GNU Radio to work with RTL-SDR and USRP is provided. Not difficult to change the grc files to support other SDR receivers. A small proxy software will send the decoded data to a server for real-time display.
