Air. In a split boom there is obviously a piece of metal pipe in the split.

I am having troubles getting the longest 2m element through the boom I don't want to force it

My arrow is at home but the only reason I can imagine for this to happen is when the duplexer has moved into the boom more than needed. Take it out carefully and check for other objects inside the boom.
