I looked at the schematic of the 5500, both az & El indicators are fed from the same voltage regulator, so if one works then the trouble is in the other circuit. The schematic was a rough copy, regulator appeared to be a 7806, so if correct then a steady 6v out to one pin of each feedback potentiometer. Wiper of each pot comes back to the control box to give position. 3rd pin of each pot is chassis ground.
Use your DMM & perform some basic troubleshooting, let us know what you find. If I recall correctly the feedback potentiometers are 500 ohms. Happy to try to help you further once you have some information.

I would switch the azimuth to the elevation side and see if that works. Mike

Hi all,

Please I have actually a Yaesu G-5500B Rotator that

The azimuth does not respond properly.

I wanted to try to understand if the problem depended on the control box or the rotor.

A friend of mine has a Yaesu G-5600 rotor and I wanted to know if I could use his G-5600

control box under my G-5500 rotors without damaging both his friend's control box and my rotor.

I also noticed that the instruments of the two control boxes are different,

Please any help will be really appreciated
