According to Google and Bing, there are lots of free and commercial virtual serial port emulators, with a range of features including automatic error injection for testing. However, all of them emulate null modem cables so far as I can find. This is a problem in some applications, such as the use of serial ports for control functions where a straight through cable is expected. Has anyone encountered a virtual port driver which can be configured for other than a null modem cable?
