Today Mario Lorenz DL5MLO from AMSAT-DL gave a presentation on Amateur Radio Space Communications as part of the Hacker Space Program track at the Chaos Communication Camp 2011.
Mario's talk titled 'From OSCAR 1 to Mars and beyond - Amateur Space Exploration – The last 50 years, now, and the future' was given to hackers at the Chaos Communication Camp which ran from August 10-14 at Finowfurt near Berlin, Germany.
He described how Radio Amateurs have been building and operating satellites for almost fifty years now, and we are aiming for more. Building satellites has always been challenging and involves using technology in creative ways.
He explained what AMSAT is, what has been achieved in the last fifty years, and what is being worked on now such as the Amateur Radio Mars orbiter P5A.
