Good day.
I've been using eggbeaters for years.
You shouldn't have any problems reaching the birds with them.
I was getting into both analog and FM birds.
I've been using a Kenwood TS-2000x.
For a while, I used my 2m Eggbeater for both uplink and downlink, by using a duplexer I had.
I was able to hear my own signals coming back down from the birds.
My 2 meter signals had a very low swr, but my swr on 70 cm was through the roof.
But I still got enough signal up to the birds to be usable, even though I was heating up the coax.
But I did eventually get a 70 cm Eggbeater.
That brought my 70 cm swr down.
And it made it easier to get into the birds.
A 2m and 70cm preamp probably wouldn't be a bad idea.
