Found this while browsing for the remote desktop wouldn't work: "Starlink
uses Carrier Grade Network Address Translation, CGNAT, which is the same
cell companies use. By default a CGNAT IP address doesn't accept incoming
traffic at all. It dynamically opens ports for reply traffic (just like an
outbound NAT on a consumer router does)".
There are occasional very brief drops that I notice when streaming audio
presumably when it switches from one satellite to another. Interestingly I
haven't seen that while streaming video.
I'm on the end of the grid and when the power fails I was losing my cable
internet after a few hours. The last outage, during the wildfires, lasted
several days, so that led me try Starlink, plus the technology is
interesting.
