Karl Jansky https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Guthe_Jansky wasn't known to have an amateur radio license (as far as my googling can tell) but he was closely connected to Grote Reber https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grote_Reber, who advanced Janksy's work into the modern era through his expertise gained from amateur radio experimentation. Reber's callsign was W9GFZ now held by the NRAO Amateur radio club (source https://www.nrao.edu/pr/2002/reber/).
