Joe:
I got them on.a whim. But a friend who has the same setup as I do (Flex 6600M and Q5 transverters) said that all a preamp does with the Q5’s is overload the front end, as they are already very hot RX’s. But I want them operational. When I was last into sats (1990’s and early 2000’s), I had Landwehr mast mount preamps, but sold them when I got out of the mode. Should have kept them. I’ll see how I do without preamps first. So far (since antennas went up Monday) so good, I’m hearing everything I try for.

Sad, they used to be the go-to pre-amp. Back in the day I I made a lot of HEO satellite contacts using them...73,Joe kk0sd-----Original Message-----From: Charles Rubenstein via AMSAT-BB <amsat-bb@amsat.org>Sent: Friday, August 4, 2023 4:55 PMTo: Joseph B. I talked to ARR and they use a big rubber mallet to get the covers off. So, I sent them off to them to be fixed. I don't think mine have the BiasTee either.Charlie KB8CROn Aug 4, 2023, at 5:17 PM, Joseph B. Fitzgerald via AMSAT-BB <amsat-bb@amsat.org> wrote:
I have an Advanced Receiver Research MSP144VDG-160 mast mount preamp, but it does not seem to be configured to be powered via the coax. I removed the cover screws, but the cover does not seem to want to come off easily. Does anyone know if there is some trick to release some sort of latch or something so I can get inside and add choke and/or capacitor? Or should I just pull it off more "enthusiastically"?
