Yesterday afternoon, Mark, N8MH and myself ran a little experiment on AO-51. We linked the SQRX receiver, listening on 145.825, to the 435.150 transmitter for several minutes over the eastern US. I wanted to see how congested the 145.825 uplink was with unattended packet beacons. We heard about a dozen packets, about two per minute. Most of them were not very strong.
The implication here is that HO-68 may be impacted by these unattended beacons while in FM/Packet mode, but not very much. Most users would have much stronger signals, and the interference is typically very short in duration. PL issues, and interference between the Voice and Packet system over densely populated areas is a separate issue.
