From someone I respect when I hear his words about operating L mode,
finding QRN on the down link , I have to ask if there is something new causing the interference ? Thanks for your efforts with AO-51 Clair

That was me VE3NPC. At 01:16 I completed a QSO with Ed N8BBQ. He was the only readable signal other than myself I could copy. There were several that were very week/
From this QSO and my previous experinece on 3 L(ssb)/S(fm)
passes I have the following observations.
- With my approx 1500 watts ERP on L I can only get into AO-51 with a good signal when it is above about 30 degrees elevation wich corresponds to a range of about 1200 kilometers.
- The receiver seems to have a definite threshold below which the signal comming back wanders around.
- We have a problem on L band. On the L//S mode there was strong random impulse QRN which I concluded was local LAN. However the same strong impulse signals were on the U downlink. The L band ssb receiver is responding to some very strong impulse signals over Eastern NA. This QRN was not there for AO-40. This implies that the Eagle team should have some sort of Noise Blanker on board.

This mode is a challange. During overhead pass up the east coast
this
evening I could barely hear I believe call sign ending in NPC
calling on
the 70cm D/L. I replied but don't know if anyone could hear me. Any other reports from the BB on this mode.
