These radios consistently go for more than MSRP. The 220MHz versions go for almost DOUBLE what they originally sold for. They didn't make many of them, and the people that have them get top dollar for them. If you think it's too expensive, don't buy it. Jim KQ6EA

Michael,
First off, this is a question you should ask the seller: Steve, KL7FZ. I only forwarded his e-mail to the amsat-bb as a courtesy.
But if you look at the date of the eham reveiw (2000), things have gotten more expensive over time. MY understanding this radio has not been in production for many years and is exceedingly rare on the used market. But, as always with used equipment, price is negotiable.
But, hey, I am just the messenger...not the seller. If you are interested, contact Steve and haggle with him. He's a regular e-bay trader and a friend.

Can you explain how this compares to this radio
that has an MSRP of $1500?

In case anyone is interested, I am forwarding
Steve's posting from MoonNet.
Do not contact me; e-mail Steve directly (below):
From: Steve Tolley radio@matnet.com I have an extra ICOM IC-1275 1.2 ghz all-mode rig
available for sale.
It is a DC model (no internal AC supply, but does
have a space for
one) and in excellent condition. Power out is
approx 15 watts. Better
than specs. Only issues: fan makes a buzzing noise
and one of the
dial lights is out. Nothing to interfere with
operation. With mike,
power cable, and manual. I do NOT have the
original box but shipping
will be double boxed and well packaged. Price is $1800 shipped US. International sale
will incur
additional shipping charges. Don't want to see it leave Alaska but no one
up here seems to want it.
