I'm a little confused and thought maybe someone could explain this to me. I was watching my monitor screen earlier and saw this:
1:Fm PCSAT-11 To APRS2 <UI pid=F0 Len=12 >[11:02:59] Default LT2
PCSAT-11 has a downlink on 144.39 over the USA for people that are not otherwise totally saturated with local APRS 144.39 traffic. That is why you will occasionally see PCSAT-11 packets on your mobile (that doesn't see as much QRM) as a base station or DIGI would hear. If you are in a canyon or a very remote USA area, you will see these packets a few times a day. We have never really found a use for this downlink since everyone that is into APRS has plenty of terrestrial traffic. Also, PCSAT is only useful a few times a year when it is in full sun. Such a period is approaching the first week of January. The rest of what you saw, was me commanding it. Just making sure it will talk to me later when it enters full sun. Bob, WB4APR
1:Fm PCSAT-11 To APRS3 <UI pid=F0 Len=12 >[11:03:01] Default LT3
1:Fm PCSAT-11 To APRS4 <UI pid=F0 Len=12 >[11:03:04] Default LT4
1:Fm COMAND-11 To W3ADO-15 <I R1 S1 pid=F0 Len=7 >[11:03:06] prompt:
1:Fm COMAND-11 To W3ADO-15 <I R2 S2 pid=F0 Len=45 >[11:03:12] OUTPUT was 11111111 (00110111,0000,1) prompt:
1:Fm COMAND-11 To W3ADO-15 <I R3 S3 pid=F0 Len=40 >[11:03:15] TXDELAY was 30/30 (300/300 msec) prompt:
1:Fm COMAND-11 To W3ADO-15 <I R3 S3 pid=F0 Len=40 >[11:03:24] TXDELAY was 30/30 (300/300 msec) prompt:
1:Fm COMAND-11 To W3ADO-15 <RR R4 >[11:03:27] 1:Fm COMAND-11 To W3ADO-15 <I R4 S4 pid=F0 Len=7 >[11:03:28] prompt:
And I saw my igate sending out this:
1:Fm N1VLV-10 To APJI23 Via WIDE2-2 <UI pid=F0 Len=60 [11:05:17] }KB1GVR>APU25N,TCPIP,N1VLV-10*::W3AFE :Merry Xmas Karl{37
And finally this:
1:Fm PCSAT-11 To BEACON Via SGATE <UI pid=F0 Len=42 [11:06:03] T#005,081,046,059,125,214,00110111,0100,1
Now before I get real excited thinking I heard this direct (looking at my mheard list appears to be the case) I don't have a clue what any of this traffic represents.
I was under the impression that the APRS sats were on a different frequency? Did I truly capture packets from PCSAT-11!!???
I've received 11 packets since Friday night.
