W1AW/9 operations - update
W1AW/9 satellite operations are underway with lots of contacts in the log. I am planning to continue to get W1AW/9 - IL on the air during as many satellite passes as possible through the weekend and into next week. Some notes regarding W1AW/9 satellite operations:
SO-50 - I seem to have trouble hearing SO-50 well below 5-10 degrees elevation. I have made a number of contacts, but have missed a few as well. If you would like to work W1AW/9 - IL and can only operate SO-50, I would be willing to make a schedule during a late night pass, which would probably not be as congested as the usual daytime passes. Contact me at aa9lc@amsat.org mailto:aa9lc@amsat.org . Serious enquiries only!!
FO-29 - Still the workhorse with nice signals. I usually call in SSB mode. If you prefer CW, just call me back in CW and I will switch modes. I'm good at straight key rates (15-20 wpm range).
AO-73 - Remember, W1AW/9 - IL counts as another call for your 73 on 73 award.
ISS packet - evening to late night passes are available now. I'll try to get on the ones that don't conflict with AO-73.
AO-7 - Saturday afternoon should be good for DX from here into Europe. I plan to be on AO-7 and FO-29 looking for DX on Saturday afternoon. I will be operating from EN-50. I don't need your grid for a complete QSO, call sign and report is enough. I can switch to CW to complete a contact if necessary.
Weekend schedule: W1AW/9 - IL should be active Saturday AM and afternoon, and again Sunday afternoon and evening.
Thanks for all the calls! It's great fun.
