I have used both the D700 and the D710. I have not noticed much difference in the receive between the two radios. I use both a 5/8 wave duel band and a 1/4 duel band on my durango. The 1/4 works much better but I have made contacts with the 5/8 wave when I am out in the open.
I use 435.300 VFO (5Hz Steps) with it set to 'CTRL' on the right side and 145.920 memory channel on the left side in my PM setting. That allows manually changing the downlink thoughout the pass from 435.310 to 435.290 when operating AO51. To change sat's I change only the uplink memory channel and then manually change the downlink to the appropriate freq.
