Of course, lots of people *like* APRS and work other stations on ISS passes. Personally I prefer making packet contacts with people on ISS passes and I don't find it boring at all.
But I'll admit, SSTV is probably more popular - but that may be because it happens in limited times, people hear it's going on and make it a priority to get the image. If it was on 24/7 that might seem get pretty boring pretty quick. It's all pretty cool and amazing to me.

Just curious - is there any way to measure SSTV utilization?
For example, in the past 24 hours there have been 700 packets digipeated from the ISS based on packets iGated.

Obviously, not all traffic get's iGated - so, we can double that number from 700 to 1,400 packets in the past 24 hours.
I think I hear you saying SSTV is a better utilization of the radio because more people would utilize the downlink if it was sending SSTV; I'm not convinced that is true.

APRS is so boring. And it has a microscopic following.
Bringback Slow Scan TV 24/7 for 4 months and you will see an exponential grow in the number of
ISS Followers.
