If you live in an area prone to lightning (especially Florida) you should invest in a good ground system and single-point ground panel with surge suppressors for all antennas, rotor/control cables, AC lines, and internet/phone connections. It's very costly and a lot of work to install. But the alternatives (destroyed equipment or even a burning house) are even worse. The information and required equipment is out there.
