Now that we have passed the Jan 15th end of the ARISS commemorative event I'd like to thank the ARISS team for this exciting and educational experience through the ISS repeater, on data, and with other downlinks.
I have found it a very stimulating experience, using the various different modes, and indeed reminding me why I bought my IC-910 in the first place, hi!
It's sharpened up my act on a number of things including
*properly modulating my 9k6 tx with an external Symek TNC *configuring RX with AGWPE and UISS at 9k6 *my best orbit for an antenna without a rotator, set for MaxEl *Choosing FM-narrow on V uplink *using the telebridge via echolink for school contacts *the late update of the keps after an ISS orbit boost
and a host of other fine details.
It was also very stimulating to have qsos with other amateurs trying to get through the repeater for the first time.
Next I have to move to Mode L ... another techie challenge! One day I'll speak to the crew too, as I have done with Mir, in another generation, it seems.
thanks again 73 de andy G0SFJ
