Just wading into the discussion late.
The FLEX-5000 and K3 both have independent dual receiver options so making a satellite radio is a software issue. Write radio control program and they can do it. Dual-polarity eme reception is not a slam-dunk, however. I still want a K3 but Santa might not bring it. MY aging FT-847 still works. A dual SDR-IQ would be nice, also.

Elecraft was taking orders for an internal 2m module for their K3 at Dayton, I ordered one. There are several un-used headers on the modules main board. In typical Elecraft fashion, it was hinted that other modules will follow. We will see. I plan on using the K3 for EME and meteor scatter this coming winter, but if I can operate sats with it I could sell my aging FT-847, TS-2000, and IC-910.

Hi all,
It looks like Flex is adding a VHF/UHF option to their Flex-5000 with us in mind:
Drool. Let's see... what can I sell...? :-)
