Ari, TF3ARI, was on VO-52 this morning on the 1428z pass with a good signal. Ari is obviously using computer control with his TS-2000 so when you answer him on his frequency, that's where he is listening. His doppler correction was right on. He reports he is working on a better receive antenna. For now he hears well near the horizon which is perfect for all of us here in the USA.
Another surprise this morning came from DN30. N7EDK is visiting his daughter in Eagle Mountain, Utah! The 1330z AO-51 pass was a cool (7 degF) so he was just using the HT and a whip antenna. The pass was nearly overhead for him. He made several contacts. He said he would be on the next pass to the west, this time with his Arrow antenna! At first the grid didn't click with me; it was before my first cup of coffee. Many people do travel around the holidays and more and more are taking their satellite equipment with them. Pay attention and you just might pick up a grid you don't already have!
Thanks to Ari and Ed for their efforts! Happy Thanksgiving!
