Hi Tim,
The vertical is somewhat a limitation (compared to for example an arrow), signals will be a bit weaker. But: it is usable for sure! The HF wire is great: you can receive for example AO07 with it (downlink 10 meters), and that is just awesome.

Reading the thread on receiving the weather satellites has sparked a bit in me. I would like to be able to capture the telemetry and beacons from amateur satellites -- Ive got a 2m/440 vertical and an HF wire. An Icom 706mk IIG and a computer running kubuntu linux. Any input or suggestions would be most appreciated
