Why not build an attenuator to reduce the audio to the recorder to what the recorder requires? You can even build a variable attenuator so that you can make adjustments for different audio levels. A very simple project.

Well, I guess you cannot win them all, and the Mini-disc is bulky and heavier then the Voice Recorder..

How about just using the recorder's internal mic while recording in your shirt pocket?
