I knew it wasn't full duplex but figured that a pair would make a nice setup like the FT1636 (2 x FT817) or a pair of 705s that WL7T uses. One of them plus a Kenwood TH74 or TH-F6A on receive would make a decent full duplex setup at a decent price as well.

Nor are the others mentioned. The use of two radio's is very common for portable satellite operating. For years I used a TH-D74A and an IC-7100. A lot of QSO's have passed through FT-817 & 818's, and a few people are using IC-705(s).
Not everyone has a base station setup. Otherwise no one would get the rare grids without people rovering.

The one antenna connector is a sure sign it's not full duplex :-)

That is an interesting radio for sure. The one thing that does not look good is how you would tune it without a VFO knob. It likely would not be hard to make a project to create an external VFO knob depending on if there is a way to control it via serial or otherwise. I do everything manual and in the field, so having a VFO knob is required, and being able to use it with gloves would be even better.

While on eham.net today I accidentally stumbled upon the new Radioddity QR20 transceiver. Looks like a nice alternative for the POTA/SOTA and Satellite Roving community, doing 20 watts on 160-6m, 10 watts on 2m, and 5 watts on 70cm with an internal battery and internal antenna tuner, along with a band scope. All this at a fairly nice price.
You can see it at: https://www.radioddity.com/products/radioddity-qr20
Anyone had a chance to use one of these yet?
