I have had zero problems with my G5400 rotators and the ERC controller via USB connection.

It works wonderfully with SatPC32.

Most people who are using Yaesu G5500 rotators are using LVB trackers or clones such as the Fox-Delta ST2 .   You can get LVB tracker kits from AMSAT-UK, and the ST2 direct from Fox-Delta.   There are other controllers and rotators,  of course (Alfa Spid and Green Heron seems to be the cadillac solution....)
