My session on working the satellites last Saturday at the ARRL Southwestern Division Convention in San Diego was attended by FIFTY-SIX folks! Standing room only - five were standing in the back of the room. We had a great time. I had to shorten my presentation a bit - because we only had 50 minutes. But I heard from attendees that it all went well.
Additionally, we worked two satellite passes Saturday afternoon out on the patio. Twenty-two attended the 3:46PM pass of SO-51 ... eighteen attended the 4:31PM pass of AO-51. I was pleased that many of these folks were NOT in the morning session (I printed up signs with the times an posted 'em on the convention's cork bulletin board and had one on an easel outside the meeting rooms). So ... impromptu "Q & A" sessions were held out on the patio, and we all had a great time a we contacted Montana, Arkansas, Tijuana, San Diego, Colorado, Yellowstone National Park and more stations via the "birds."
