BTW,
Belcom NO LONGER mfg. radios and the Yahoo Group has folded.
Name: Belcom; Tokyo (J) Abbreviation: belcom Summary: Belcom;
Brand name of: Nikon Dengyo Co. Ltd. 4-10, I-Chome Kaga, Itabashi-Ku, Tokyo, Japan (1970's).
A small company producing HAM radio equipment, especially for VHF/UHF ranges ("Liner" series). Last radios (Hand-helds/HTs) they mfg. were made in mid-1980s.
Nikon Dengyo Co. Ltd built VHF amateur radios for KLM in the mid to late 1970's.
IF you have a SPECIFIC question, you may want to contact Jim Eagleson, WB6JNN, who worked for KLM during this period when Belcom was making radios for KLM (Belcom's Liner 2 became the KLM ECHO II in the USA). http://www.qsl.net/wb6jnn/middle.htm

Hi Greg et all...
The link is 404ed...you need to go to 6mt.com's main page and chose the 440 Technical section...evidently there was a 6 meter conversion for this radio somewhere.

There was a Belcom list (reflector) on Yahoo! Groups. Belcom made quite a few monobad rigs for 20m, 15m, 10m, 6m, 2m, and 70cm, some of which were sold in the U.S. and Canada under the Santec, KLM, and SBE names as well. Many of their radios were QRP rigs. Majority made in 1970s, early 1980s. If you're interested please visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/belcom

SBE wasn't interested in marketing a prototype transceiver they had developed, KLM approached its maker, Belcom, and changed the name from Liner 2 to the ECHO II.
This, and the ECHO 70, became KLM's entry point into the VHF/UHF transceiver marketplace.
