Finally tried transmitting into a 43 degree pass for SO-50 and was heard by two stations (K8YSE/Y and W0DHB)!
Unfortunately they never heard my response; but I be smothering myself transmitting from inside the snow covered sun room. Might also be poor microphone technique.

Still, enough progress to encourage … Arizona/Colorado from Minnesota … a thousand miles and 50F.
