Hello! I think it has happened to all of us at the beginning or after a period of inactivity, what you are doing, recording the audio of the pass, is the best, forget about paper and pencil, and the practice of knowing who to call and memorizing their callsign is just that, practice over time.

Good morning folks, been trying to get on the birds again after a bit of a break (got a new radio that makes it a lot easier - RT3S with opengd77). Hearing a ton of stations but can’t remember the calls as they come in so it’s difficult to call individual stations, and can’t write it down since I’m hand holding an antenna. Any tips for me to be more effective? I am recording the pass so I don’t need to worry about logging but just knowing who to call is tough. I’m sure I’ll memorize calls as I listen more and hear the same ones (w4ksy comes to mind :D).
