Hi all.
The plans for the antennas on Columbus have clearly been a great success. Lou and AMSAT-NA have done a wonderful job with the VHF/UHF and ARISS in general have manged to get permission / fund raise and purchase / fit patches for L and S band. - Great job everyone.
A couple of weeks ago I was at a UK microwave event and was asked " Now we have the antennas, when will the hardware be launched?" -Rapidly followed by: "What is being launched?"
I'm not often stuck for an answer on satellite topics, but I was on this occassion.
Does anyone know:
Is there a plan Is there any hardware being built / purchased Is there a committee sitting somewhere creating a specification so they can say - Who can build us this for us....?
Currently within AMSAT there is a lot of work going on designing modules for space. HF VHF UHF together with L S and C Band are all being assembled in various parts of the world. We collectively have the designs / people and ability to make this happen.
I just hope it is all happening, but 'under the radar'
Thanks
David
