Rick, I use Directive Systems wide lobe yagis (5 el 2m, 11 el 70cm, vert pol) with no preamps and have no difficulty working Greencube.

Yes , these should work with masthead preamps especially for low elevation where you get good DX. I use Wimo X quads (stacked) and works great.
