Basically it is a inverted Vee made with stiff wire but mounted horizontally. The arms of the Vee facing into the AOS and along the path of the pass.

See 3rd paragraph, six to 12 feet off the ground/roof decouples it quite well from the surrounding. Just run the coax along the vertical support.
Works best for NOAA and loud birds like AO-91, AO-92.

If you are ok with a nuts, bolts and small tools, a horizontal-Vee dipole is a great fun project to do and use, I demo NOAA WX sats with it.

If you have a piece of 300ohm TV line, I have had reasonable success with this simple low SWR, dual band antenna, specially on the more common low elevation passes:

Oops, this should have gone to the list. My two way wrist watch is acting up. Or build a j-pole for 70cm. All these can be built inexpensively with items from your local home improvement store. You might also contact local hams.
BTW, since it is for RX only, the dimensions aren't very critical.

I have been trying to find a used Eggbeater or similar antenna to use to listen for Satellites. The exchange on the USD to CND currency is a killer. I noticed many plans to build one on the internet. Any suggestions which one would be worth trying for RX to start?
