It's all about speed... Force is a factor of area and velocity. That wing is not a lifting airfoil. It is a fully symetrical surface. At those kinds of speed, the atmosphere is nothing but a fluid. If you change the orientation of the wing, it causes a nearly instanteous change in direction parallel to the chord of the wing.
