Called CQ and not a single voice heard on the band tonight, guess all are watching the election..
Fred, I did the same thing on FO29 ~ 2000 z today, and heard no one besides myself!!
And I was looking at a good chunk of Mexico, all of the Pacific states, western third of Canada...all of Alaska, a big chunk of Eastern Russia
What in the world has happened to the ham satellite community in the USA and Canada?
And AO51 was designed to promote hamsats!!
AO-51 is always very crowded when in V/U FM mode, so I think it's doing a pretty good job promoting satellite work. I think this shows that FM satellites are just more popular then SSB ones, which, if you think about it make sense considering the amount of 2M/70cm SSB equipment versus 2M/70cm FM equipment.
Perhaps we should focus on getting more FM LEOs aloft to distribute the load from AO-51 and continue praying that AO-27 wakes from it's slumber.
