Does anyone know of a compression program specifically designed to compress image files? Something beyond the capabilities of PKZIP or 7-Zip?
I've resized and re-sampled images to a reasonable size that would be appropriate for Falconsat, but I was wondering if there's something else one can do to reduce file size even further.
If you use *BSD or Linux, the venerable image viewer "xv" will let you save images in the JPEG formats. On the dialog after "Save file as ..", you'll see the option to decrease the quality of the image. Lower quality % -> less disk space but a blurrier image.
