Hi guys, for the Techno Trend board, I suggest to contact Jean-Pierre F6DZP and have a look at http://www.vivadatv.org/page.php?p=tutioune-en for some hints. You can also drop a line to Amsat-Italia Bod (CD@amsat.it), unfortunately I'm currently on business trip and can't help you right now.
As Stefan said pay attention to the rotators:speed and accuracy may cause unsuccess.

Hi Rob,
Any specific reason why you went with that model? A cheap used FTA receiver (DVB-S) will do. Biggest problem for receiving will not be the receiver, or dish or LNB/downconverter. Biggest problem will be the Yaesu G5400 and 5500 not being accurate enough. That eliminates most of the current satellite/ISS users unless they have a ProSistel or Spid rotor setup ($$$).

I got my TechnoTrend S2-1600 the other day and tried to get it to work

Windows XP and a Windows 7 machine. Both machines are presently out of commission because of driver issues and an array of error codes. Seems all is not as simple as plug and play with these little monsters. I don't think I will ship it back to Europe for some other victim got get his hands on. Destruction with a 5 lb. hammer seems most likely. Anyone with a recommendation for another product that has good drivers packaged with it along with good vendor support would be welcome to contact me off line at the above address. Thanks in advance.
