Jeff, great memory, found a post dated 11/29/1999 from G3RWL (with the descriptive subject "Re: Inquiry"). It refers to the G3RUH auto-tune circuit that utilizes the mike click methods.

Alan, perhaps I can tap the VFO selector and switch back and forth between mike clicks? It's no CAT interface, but maybe it'll do.
By the way I noticed the archives only go back to 2/98. Is there another archive that goes back further, or is that the whole -bb?

There used to be a way to Doppler tune freq's via the data/packet port? I vaguely remember something about being able to do this. Check the archives late 1990's....

Anybody ever rig up automatic doppler tuning to a FT-726? Without a CI-V interface (or equivalent) the best idea I can think of is splicing a microcontroller in to push the up, down, and maybe the fast buttons on the microphone during a pass.
Then I'd just have to dial in the initial frequency before the pass starts.
