W5IU does very well with the FT-1634. (Two FT-817s.) Standing room only at Dayton. Of course being set up in a parking lot may have something to do with that. ;)

One could always buy an 857D and an 817 to get full-duplex all mode. Yaesu should offer the two as a package and call it the 1674 :-)

I think the Chinese radios will come out with a Satellite Radio- ALL Mode DC to Daylight for about $750. Something like this popular dual band (Woxan?) that I have seen and heard about that many hams are buying up like candy lately. Just heard one new one on the air in the last hour. See all the AMSAT people in Dayton... 73, Dee, NB2F -----Original Message----- From: Alan P. Depending on who you talk with, you get slightly different versions of the same answer. The FT-847 went out of production due parts availability. Like many here, they equate satellite with P3 HEO, and feel that until that happens, there is no justification for the additional engineering work to bring out an updated version. I have been told there is a notional design for one. Others have gotten different versions. Will ask again. If anybody is going to Dayton this year, PLEASE ask them. Unless they keep getting questions about it, they won't know there's a market for it. 73, Jim KQ6EA May 13, 2011 09:18:58 AM, morsesat@optonline.net wrote: Unless the IC-9100 comes down in price about $2,000, I don't care if it will work with SATPC32.
