I had the same “problem”. The antennas are on “backwards” by that I mean when you run the motor watch how it turns. I was thinking I had the same problem. The rotor was inverted and the antennas were off (rotated) by 180 degrees.

Having an issue with a newer Yaesu 5500DC.... the new one with the DC motor in it.
  After I get everything up it seems to be backward in both el and az.  I would
imagine I will have to bring it down but maybe a simple fix if I have the wires
backward....  Yes it seemed fine before I took it outside.

So anyone have a link to or a schematic for this controller/rotors.  I have one
for the plain 5500 but there are less wires now so need the DC model schematic.
