Hi Jerry,
While I don't know the TNC personally, from a quick look at the specs it should work fine at either 1200 or 9600.
Here's the catch--there really aren't any digital satellites to work :( With the fairly quick decline of AO-51 (which is the only 9600 bird still functional at 9600, but rarely running that mode...) I'm not sure I'd spend a bunch of money to get ready for satellite packet activity.
There was a bit of 1200 activity with HO-68, but it has been running a beacon only for many weeks now. If you want to copy IO-26 telemetry, you'll need a PSK modem for that (or use MixW).
Soooo....yes, I've been running Wisp under Win7 just fine, but there really isn't much you can do with a TNC and satellites righ now!
Who knows what the future holds for digital satellites...hopefully something!

All y'all,
I've not yet done any digital satellite work, and I'm getting an itch to head that direction. Slowly it will be, and I have a few questions that I haven't been able to resolve on the internet.
A local ham has an AEA PK-96 he has offered me. Is this older TNC suitable for the various modes of satellite packet on the current birds? Also, is WiSP the software I would want to use and does it run on Vista and Windows 7?
Thank you for your help.
